Registration
Not registered? No problem! It is fast and easy. Read the following for the requirements and register to vote online.
Cancel your registration: email- elections@klamathcounty.org with your name, previous address, year of birth and ask to cancel your registration.
Requirements
In order to register and vote in Klamath County, you must meet all of the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of the United States of America
- Be 18 years of age or older (you may register at 16, but cannot vote until you reach 18)
- Be a resident of Klamath County
You must register to vote by the 21st day before the election at which you plan to vote.
Identification
Oregon laws require that people must provide identifying information to register to vote.
- If you have a current, valid Oregon DMV Driver's License/ID, you must provide that number in section 4. The number you provide will be validated with the DMV prior to you becoming an active, registered voter.
- If you do not have a current, valid Oregon DMV Driver's License/ID, you must provide the last four digits of your Social Security number in section 4a. The number you provide will be validated with the Social Security Administration prior to you becoming an active, registered voter.
- If you do not have a current, valid Oregon DMV Driver's License/ID OR a Social Security number, you must affirm this on the new voter registration form in sections 4 and 4a, and if you register by mail, you must provide a copy of one of the following:
- Valid photo identification
- A paycheck stub
- A utility bill
- A bank statement
- A government document
- Proof of eligibility under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) or the Voting Accessibility for the Elderly and Handicapped Act (VAEH)
If you move within the county or from another county in Oregon you may change your registration address up through Election Day. If you are a new voter to Oregon, you must register by the 21st day before an election to be eligible.
Vote by Mail
Oregon was the first state in the United States to conduct all of its elections using vote by mail. With this system your ballot will be mailed to you. You no longer need to find time to go down to the polling place to vote on Election Day.
